Our Language of Doors

It isn't always in English.

That's just fine. We have understanding. We both come from the same industry — separate continents.

Roman was introduced to me from a neighbourhood friend who had supported his family in making New Brunswick their new home. Coming from Ukraine, the Saint John area was specifically appealing due to the similarities in seasons and outdoor activities. The abilities this family brought have been well utilized across a few industries here. The skills Roman brought are carpentry, joinery, and philosophy. As you may appreciate, these abilities and insights were welcomed at hatch + parley. We have worked side-by-side every week since the day we met.

With someone in the shop that takes pride in the finer details, I have ventured further into business opportunities with a high level of confidence. It also comes with an assurance that the commitments made to clients will come through.

Working with someone that does not share the same language comes with a few challenges. It is with patience from both ends plus an understanding that we have each other's best interest in mind — that's the formula allowing us to be on the same page and make progress together. Progress in our processes, in the shop itself, with tools, new hires, and ultimately in the finished products produced. Google Translate is used as sparingly as possible. The advantage is that we both speak the language of Doors. Fine finishing. Teenage kids. And coffee.
