Commitment to Craft
There are a quite a few business awards where you apply for them directly. Most of these awards, the business has to be nominated, and quite often this involves groveling to friends and handing them a homework assignment; "Please write these things about us, so we fit the criteria" and then if enough of these are submitted, it is possible your company might be shortlisted as a finalist. It's a bit of an awkward scenario, but these awards bring wonderful recognition – and that is at the core of why someone like me puts effort into submitting hatch + parley as often as it seems appropriate.
This is not one of those awards. In fact, I don't think you can even apply for it or ask for nominations. The is an organic instance where the work done has been noticed and acknowledged. I can personally attest that this is pure gold for a budding entrepreneur. The award, provided by the City of Saint John, presented by the Heritage Development Board, acknowledges the recipients as follows; Exemplifies the commitment and skill that keep Saint John’s historic buildings vibrant and resilient.
This is truly at the core of why I started this little door shop.

I wanted to put this in the journal to mark this moment of gratitude. To be seen, to stand beside others that have taken on the challenges of work like this, and for holding us to a higher bar.
